A tough slope and nowhere to entertain…
The owner’s contractor walked out, defeated by a tough slope. An hour of brainstorming and we figured out how to move forward with the help of a structural engineer and a can-do builder.

The owner called after her contractor gave up on a steep slope ending a few feet from the back of a 3-story townhouse. We conceived a flagstone terrace and stairs, then tackled a rugged planting to provide the eye-candy.

After sketching out an idea for the steps and railing, the owner commissioned a talented metalworker to add the details.

Let no space go to waste.
